Omniquad Enterprise Manager - Quick Start
Install the Enterprise Server application on the server
- Open Enterprise Manager from Start Menu on the server - select 127.0.0.1 as the IP address to connect to, and do not enter any password. If you cannot make a connection to the server, reboot it.
The server will prompt you for your trial activation code - enter the code that has been sent to you automatically when you registered at http://www.omniquad.com/registertrial.asp
Once you connect, the server will prompt you to specify a password
Install the client component on few selected client workstations
clnt2k.exe for Windows NT4/2000/XP
clnt9x.exe zip for Windows 95/98/ME
Specify the IP address of the server when prompted in the client setup dialog. Refer to the product manual in the Enterprise Manager for more information on how to deploy the client software in silent mode. See the main help section for more information about automated deployment.
Sample operations
- Open the Enterpriser Manager again and click on the My Site button - you will see an icon for each client computer you added to the network. Select one computer and click on the Remote Control button - test it and close Remote Control.
- Select another computer, go to the Webwall tab, enable the Web Management option and block access to Sex sites.
- While the same computer is selected, click on the Desktop tab and block access to Control Panel
Click on the Save Policy button
- Try to open Control Panel, then http://www.playboy.com on that computer (Do not open that site if you may be offended by nudity or you are under 18 years of age)
- Back in the Enterprise Manager, click on the Activity Analyzer and select today's date in the calendar control and review information log.
- If you want to apply the same policy to all computers, click on the Policies button and remove the 2 sample policies you created. It will force the Default Computer policy to be loaded upon the next logon (or you can reload them immediately by clicking on the Reload button while the relevant computers are selected). Refer to the on-line help for more information on how policies are loaded and activated.
