AutoSiteTranslator
User Manual
Version 1.0
AutoSiteTranslator is a fully automated solution
to translate your websites up to 9 different languages.
1.1
How does AutoSiteTranslator Work?
AutoSiteTranslator instantly translates your websites up to 9 different
languages you have configured. It connects to your sites through
FTP, gets the list of files in the source folder/sub-domain you
have configured and creates directories like fr,de,ar, etc (Refer
<Section 4.2>)for the languages you have selected. All the
web-pages in your source directories can now be accessed from the
language specific directories.

AutoSiteTranslator Editions
There is right now only one edition of AutoSiteTranslator
- AutoSiteTranslator Business
- There is no limit on the number of domains that can be translated!.
- If you are an Internet Marketing expert looking to capture
a major chunk of the Non-English speaking world, or a business
owning thousands of domains, and looking to translate them
all, this is the right one for you.
1.5
Any limitations on the software's capability to translate ?
AutoSiteTranslator
will translate up to about 1800 words per page, which is far more
than enough for 99% of content pages. If a page is longer than roughly
1800 words, the remaining words after the 1800 will not be translated.

How do I translate my website ?
To translate your website, just follow the following steps.
Create a

Your project gets
displayed just below the sample project, if that is the only project
that exists or at the end, if many projects exist.
Click on the Execute

3.4
What is a project ?
A project is a means to group together your sites that you want
translated to other languages.
You need FTP access to your site, i.e the server name (eg: tkres.com)
, username, password.
You set the common settings for all the sites like the languages
to be translated to, and the default source and destination language

and the notification email to be sent on completion of translating
a particular website.

Edit link to the right side of the project you want to edit and
the software shows you a page similar to the new project creation
page. Just edit the fields you want changes and click on Update
Project to save the changes for the project.
You may typically need to edit a project to add
more sites, in which case, after you have updated the project, the
Complete/Total field in the main screen should show an increase
in Total whilst the completed field remains the same.
Also, you might want to add or remove certain language translations
for which case, you would need to edit a project.
3.6

To delete a project, click on the delete link by
the side of the project name, ie under the Options column. Say yes,
when asked for a confirmation if you are sure that you want to delete

link in the Options to the right hand side of the project that you
want exported. Then Right click and Save-As, give a filename and
you can store it in your hard disk. Later on you can replicate the
same project in AutoSiteTranslator by making use of the Import feature.
The exported file, by default, has a .prj extension.

PROJECT SETTINGS
5.1
Introduction
This
allows you to configure your project settings, like the sites you
want to translate, the source language of your site, the languages
that you want to translate to, the directories where the source
files are present, the directories where you want the translated
files to be present, the source sub-domain, whether you want to
create separate sub-domains for each of the languages, etc.
5.2
Site Info Page
This is a very important
setting for all your projects. This is the place where you specify
the FTP access for your site(s),
the source and destination directories on each of them.
You
can specify any number of sites. You are not restricted by the software
to translate the number of sites you have.
The
sites need to be specified in the following format :
<FTP_SERVER>,<FTP_USERNAME>,<FTP_PASSWORD>,<SOURCE
_DIR>,<DEST_DIR>
Eg:
tkres.com,tkresuser,tkrespass,,lang
In
the above example, tkres.com is the FTP server name, tkresuser is
the ftp username and tkrespass is the FTP password. These three
fields are mandatory for any site. Please consult your site admins
if you are not sure about these parameters.
The
other two are optional parameters, namely, <SOURCE_SIR> and
<DEST_DIR>.
If you do not specify either of them, the default directories, if
specified, under the Options tab will be taken. If they too are
not specified, the site root (public_html folder) would be taken.
<SOURCE_DIR> is the directory where your source files are
present. It is specified relative to the site root, which is the
public_html directory. These are the files that will be translated
by the software.
<DEST_DIR> is the directory where your translated files would
be stored and accessed. It is also specified relative to the site
root, which is the public_html directory. The software would, by
default, setup separate directories using .htaccess (although these
directories will not physically exist), relative to the destination
language folder, for each of the languages that you select, like
the following:
English
- en
French - fr
Spanish - es
German - de
Italian - it
Portugese - po
Arabic - ar
Japanese - ja
Korean - ko
Chinese - cn
5.3
Translation Page
Here
you give details as to the source language of your website and the
target languages you want to translate to.
Eg:-
If your site is in English, you select the Source languages to English
and in the Translate To field, check all languages that you want
to translate to.
Refer Section 1.3 for the translations that are possible. If an
un-supported language conversion is selected, it will be ignored.
5.4
Options Page
Here you specify
the various translation options.
Notification Email
- A mail is sent to the email address provided here if the translation
succeeded.
File Extensions
- The page extensions that you want to translate. Basically, the
translator translates all kinds of extenions and as it is this field
has no effect. This will be deprecated in the coming versions. You
can leave it to be default or add some of your extensions just for
documentation.
Default Source Folder
: This is the default folder that is taken for translation for source
file if you haven't specified a source folder per site in the Account
Page Site Info Field. It is always specifed relative to the site
root which is the public_html directory.
If you leave this blank and specified a per site source folder,
then that will be eventually taken as the source folder
If you leave this blank and not specified a per site source folder,
then by default, the public_html folder would be taken.
If you specify a folder here, and leave the per site blank, then
this directory will be used to get the source files for translation.
If you specify a folder here, and also provide a per site source
folder, then the per site folder would take precedence over this.
Default language
Folder :
This is the default
folder where your translated files can be accessed and cached. if
you haven't specified a language folder per site in the Account
Page Site Info Field. It is always specifed relative to the site
root which is the public_html directory.
If you leave this blank and specified a per site language folder,
then that will be eventually taken as the language folder
If you leave this blank and not specified a per site source folder,
then by default, the public_html folder would be taken.
If you specify a folder here, and leave the per site blank, then
this directory will be used.
If you specify a folder here, and also provide a per site language
folder, then the per site folder would take precedence over this.
Source folder is a sub-domain :
When
this option is selected, then the source directory given is taken
as a sub-domain and the translation is done. So, either the per-site
source directory or the default source directory should be given.
And also there should be a directory with the same name as the sub-domain
relative to the site root (public_html directory).
Create
Sub-domains :
When
this option is selected, the software creates sub-domains on your
server for each of the languages that you have selected for the
translation and sets up the re-direction to point to the translated
pages.
Eg:
If you have selected French and Italian translations, then it will
create sub-domains like
fr.abc.com and it.abc.com and they would point to the respective
language folders where you can see the translated pages.
5.5
