Since VerifyCD is a Java application, the Java
runtime module (JRE) from Sun must be installed. We give you two ways to
install
1.
Using
Java Webstart or
2.
Download
the runtime module
We recommend that you use alternative 1 since the installation of Webstart automatically checks your machine for the correct Java version and offers you download from Sun if necessary.
Use alternative 2 only if you already have java
installed or if you want to install the JRE separately.
·
Start
the installation here
and click on the VerifyCD icon. The installation procedure is self explanatory,
checks your machine for the Java Webstart and Java Runtime environment modules
and connects to java.sun.com for download of these if necessary. With Java
installed, VerifyCD will be installed into the webstart environment when you
click on the launch button a second time. After installation the code sits in
your machine but a check for a new version is done automatically at each start
if you are connected to the network. Documentation of VerifyCD, however, is
available only on the web and will not be installed on your computer.
·
Click
on the launch link here
once more. Now you will be asked if you want shortcuts added to your Program
list and or your desktop.
·
Download
Verify CD and documentation from here.
·
Choose
a folder to unzip into. We suggest a place where you normally install software.
For Windows use the folder Program or Program Files.
·
Run
Unzip into the selected folder. You will now get VerifyCD.jar with a subfolder
“doc” containing documentation and help.
·
If you
need to install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) go and find the software for
your platform at http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html
You are now done. There is nothing else to do,
nothing to copy into system directories, nothing to change in your environment.
Documentation is provided in the folder “doc” now installed in the same
directory as VerifyCD.jar.
When you click (or double click) on the VerifyCD icon, the demo version will
start and will look like this:
The demo version has full functionality but is limited to 5 minutes of
comparison. Enter or browse for the two sound files to compare and hit Start.
Supported formats are WAV, AIFF, SND and AU. The professional version also
supports image files from CDRWIN, Eclipse and Pyramix. Bit depths 8,16, 20 and 24 are supported.
Sampling frequency and bit depth must be equal.
To verify the installation we suggest that you first use the same file and
enter the same file name for the two files in the VerifyCD window. Then hit the
“Start” button. This should give the result “Equal files”. Then use a different
file for sound file 2. Maybe you could use your sound editor to make some
changes e.g. introduce a click or pop or simply make digital zero data for a
few ms somewhere. Run VerifyCD again, the difference will be flagged.
The same data as you see in the VerifyCD window is written into the file
VerifyCD.log in the same folder as sound file 1.
When you are satisfied that this works you may want to purchase.
Hit the “About” button to find the
website “Purchasing information” or read Purchase.htm.
If you have
installed Java Webstart, use your control panel to remove the Webstart and JRE
modules
If you
installed the VerifyCD module separately, find the folder where VerifyCD.jar
and subfolder doc is installed. Delete this folder. Nothing in system
directories and nothing in the environment needs to be changed since nothing
was added and/or changed during the installation of VerifyCd.
