Data


HealthWatch Home saves all data in a MS Access database. It also provides data management functionalities, such as export, delete, sort, and filter. You can also use tools provided by MS Access to manage data and create reports.

Export

If you want to export the listed data to an Excel worksheet , select "Tool->Export" menu from the main menu. 

  • Target file - The file name of the Excel worksheet. If the file doesn't exist, HealthWatch Home will create one for you.
  • Check fields for exporting - Click the "Check all" button for exporting all fields.
  • Export/Delete - Export data and then delete all data from the database!
  • Export - Export data to the target file.

    Import

    To import mass data from an Excel worksheet, select "Tool->Import" menu from the main menu bar. After select the file from the "Open file" dialog, define the format for your file in the "Import data" dialog. You can save your definitions on a file so that reuse it in next time. To import data,

  • 1) Select the Excel file - You can use the "Browse" button to select file.
  • 2) Select data source - Excel file could contain multiple worksheets. The list control shows part of your data. Select the worksheet contains your data.
  • 3) Import definitions - This step is option. if you saved your importing configurations in a file last time, you can reuse it.
  • 4) Define the starting row and the initial character stands for male - Some data may use "1" stands for male, while others may use "M".
  • 5) Define weight unit and length unit - HealthWatch Home supports "inch" and "cm" as length unit, and "lb" and "kg" as weight unit.
  • 6) Match fields - You can use the index numbers showed on the list control to define fields. The followings are fields related to calculations:

    1.

    First name and Last name: These data are no necessary for calculations, but they are important in saving data. HealthWatch Home groups data based on person.

    2.

    Gender and Age: Almost all calculations depend on these data. Therefore, they should be entered correctly (note: if there is no Age data, HealthWatch Home can calculate Age from Birthday and Test date).

    3.

    Race: This data will be used for the estimations of waist percentiles (only for Caucasian, African-American and Hispanic). HealthWatch Home supports the following case-insensitive enters for race: White, Caucasian, African-American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic, Native-American,Multi-racial, Unknown.

    4.

    Smoker and Treatment for Hypertension: These data are used for calculating "10-year risk of having a heart attack" for adults only.

    5.

    Test Date: HealthWatch Home calculates person's age based on this data and Birthday, and many calculations use the information of person's age

    6.

    Height and Weight: These data are used to calculate height-for-age, weight-for-age, and weight-for-height percentiles for infants, children and adolescents (2 to 20 years); and BMI for children and adults. The default units for weight and height are "pound" and "inch", respectively. If you want to use metric unit, select "Tool->Options..." menu from the main menu bar, then select "Kilogram" for weight and "Centimeter" for height.

    7.

    Head circumference: This data is used to calculate Head circumference-for-age percentile for infants only.

    8.

    Systolic BP and Diastolic BP: Blood pressure data will be used to calculate percentiles for age for children (under 17), identify metabolic syndrome and calculate 10-year risk for having a heart attack for adults.

    9.

    Fasting blood triglycerides, Total cholesterol, Blood HDL cholesterol and Fasting glucose are used to identify metabolic syndrome and calculate 10-year risk for having a heart attack for adults.

  • 7) Save definitions - You can save the current configurations into a file for using in next time.
  • 8) Import - Click the "Import" button to import data.
