Use the Clone brush to copy part of an image to another location. You can clone within
an image, or between two images. For example, if a photograph has a flaw against a
multi-toned or multicolored background, such as skin or cloth, you can use the Clone brush
to copy the background over the flaw.
When you use the Clone brush, you work with two image areas:
· The source area, which is the area you copy from. It contains the
data you are copying.
· The target area, which is the area you copy to. It can be within the
same image or in another image of equal color depth.
To set the Clone brush options:
1 Activate the Clone brush by clicking its button on the Toolbar.
2 On the Brush Palette, set the brush tip width, shape ,
transparency and other options.
3. Select a mode from the Brush Palette. The mode controls the position of the source area, or reference point, for cloning each time you release the mouse button and then press it again to resume cloning. The two modes are:
- 'Aligned Once' mode, in which the source area does not move when you release the mouse. Each time you release and then re-click the mouse, the starting point for cloning returns to source area. This mode in On by default.
- 'Aligned each time' mode, in which the source area moves with the brush each time you release the mouse. When you release and then re-click the mouse, the brush resumes cloning the image relative to the distance from the source area.
To clone part of an image:
1 Position the cursor over the part of the image that you want to copy.
Set the source area by pressing <Shift> and clicking the source area.
2 Move the cursor to the area you want to start copying the image. This
can be within the same image or in another image.
3 Press and hold the left mouse button.
4 Drag the mouse to clone from the source area to the target area.
6 Release the mouse button to end the Clone brush stroke.
7 To resume copying, start over at step 5.
