This directory contains many of the support packages either needed to create a working FTP server, or to assist in the operation of existing sites. The WU-FTPD Development Group has stated the goal of including many of these support facilities into future releases of the daemon. Until that work is completed, these supporting packages will remain available here. README This file. fileutils-3.16.tar.gz The GNU File Utiltities. This package includes the 'ls' command needed to build a fully-functional anonymous FTP site, and to support guest users. The WU-FTPD Development Group has set a goal of including the 'ls' command directly in a future version of the daemon. gzip-1.2.4a.tar.gz The GNU Zip Compression Utilities. This package includes the 'gzip' and 'gunzip' commands needed for on-the-fly compression or de-compression of GNU-Zip (gz) format files (see ftpconversions). logdaemon-5.7.tar.gz Wieste Venema's package which include S/Key features needed to build S/Key support into the daemon. The WU-FTPD Development Group has set a goal of including S/Key support directly in future versions of the daemon. mirror-2.9.tar.gz Lee McLoughlin's Mirror package. A Perl-language system for maintaining copies of FTP sites on other sites. ncompress-4.2.4.tar.Z Peter Jannesen's (N)compress package. An implementation of the standard UNIX compress command used for on-the-fly compression or de-compression of UNIX compressed (Z) format files (see ftpconversions). tar-1.12.tar.gz The GNU Tape Archive Utility. This package includes the 'tar' command used for on-the-fly archival of entire directories when downloading from an FTP site (see ftpconversions). textutils-1.22.tar.gz The GNU Text Utilities. This package includes the 'cksum' and 'md5sum' commands used for on-the-fly creation of checksums when downloading from the FTP site (see ftpconversions). xferstats-2.16.tar.gz Phil Schwan's replacement for the xferstats logfile analysis Perl script included with the base release. This version offers many usefull features not available in the base. The WU-FTPD Development Group has set a goal of replacing the logfile analysis utility with Phil's version (or one based upon it) in a future version of the daemon.
