If you have a camcorder and a capture card, you can use Media Mogul to add transitions between scenes or special effects.

Your camcorder connects to your video capture card and then outputs to the screen. You save a section of video to disk as an AVI and then dump the frames from AVI to bitmap to edit individual frames. If you do not have a program capable of doing this, Personal TV Studio can do this for you. The alternative is to copy and paste to file one frame at a time which is very tedious. You can also create a section of video yourself and splice it into the video but you cannot edit the actual frames unless they are in bitmap form.Once you have completed the section of video you can add compression and place it on your website, perhaps as a streaming video or as an MPG. AVI are too large and carry too many varieties of compression to be practical on the web. However, almost all video on the web, starts out as an AVI.

Here I reduced an 87 MB AVI to 179K and maintained the image quality.
