Introduction:Ted is designed to be a lightweight and portable text editor that runs in a graphical environment. Eventually Ted will have configurable behaviour throughout but at the moment it will be hard coded to behaviour like a good windows editor. The other restraint.
Ted is shareware and as such requires you to evaluate the product and then either purchase it or delete it. Please make sure that if you give it to a friend or upload it somewhere that you send all the files in the original archive.
Ted doesn't use any services from the operating system to render and edit text. By doing this it should be easier to port to other operating systems. But for all other user interface I've tried to remain as consistant with the operating system as I can.
Installation is just a matter of unzipping the files from the Ted archive into a new directory somewhere on your hard disk. As long as all the files (and possibly directories) are preserved in the location you choose Ted will be able to find them.
Heres a list of files that should be in the Ted distribution archive:

Ted is shareware and as such you should evaluate it for 30 days (give or take a month or three) and then decide to either buy it or delete it. You won't lose any functionality if you continue to use Ted after 30 days but you'll be making it harder for me to produce a better product. Which will eventually mean the world isn't a better place.
