New function:
1.Support for >64m memory using int15 func e820. Note, this support is enabled
ONLY for Intel Pentium Pro or later, or non-Intel Pentium-class machines. This is
done in an effort to prevent problems on older PCs.
2.The presence of \os2\boot\os2norev.$$$ suppresses the display of internal revision
during boot.
3.Adding "EARLYMEMINIT=TRUE" to config.sys will allow device drivers,
etc., access to the memory above 16mb early in boot. Previously, this was only available
after DD and IFS init was completed. This has various implications when enabled:
1.AHA154X.ADD may do bad things to your system. Don't even enable if using.
2.There may be some settings of HPFS386 cache that are incompatible.
3.Trap messages will now give the module name instead of the device name. For example,
"Exception in module: CLOCK01" instead of "Exception in Device Driver:
CLOCK$".
4.Traps in 32 bit code now show the modname, too
5.Systems with a 486SX chip running FP15 will function correctly. Note, they will
NOT work with ACP or (necessarily) on MCP.
6.SESDD32 will now work correctly (I hope) for both uni and smp
Bug Fixes:
JR13335: Some VDMs won't run, complaining of too-long command lines
JR15194: XCOPY fails with SYS1186 or SYS1192 on (at least) MO drives
JR15038: Trap 8 in h_DeviceHelpDM running an app from a tcpbeui drive
JR15229: Files left open after ERROR_TOO_MANY_OPEN_FILES returned to app
PJ27676: Causes hangs on some systems running UNI or W4 kernels
PJ27554: Hang or (on allstrict) trap 3 on SMP (only) during beeps
PJ27678: SMP kernels could not be RIPL-booted. As part of this, there is a new config.sys
parameter I13PAGES= available. Adding I13PAGES=1 to config.sys (note, no SET) reduces
the memory usage of the mini VDM processes used by ibm1s506.add and the GRADD drivers.
This becomes important in RIPL-boot situations.
PJ27677: SMP systems hang with multiple threads of same process entering a critical
section (affects ADSM client)
PJ27757: Trap 000e running Theseus/4 (note, theseus4.exe may still end up with a
sys3175, but at least the system doesn't crash).
PJ27736: Trap in _PLD_WriteReturnCode
PJ27777: Set BEGINLIBPATH= (in config.sys ONLY) may be ignored. Also, it would lead
to a bogus copy of BEGINLIBPATH= in the environment.
PJ27906: Trap 000e in pvwRegKrnlInstance running SPM/2 (may also cause unknown odd
behavior in other performance monitors).
PJ27919: Complete system hang running some apps (same as JR12136)
See README in the zip for Install Instructions.
Disclaimer: These interim fixes will be supported by IBM until the next fixpack
is available or until superceded by a newer interim fix. At the discretion of IBM,
you may be required to revert to GA (i.e. MCP/ACP/fixpack) code to pursue specific
support issues.

PsiConv/PM 1.02 has been released
PsiConv/PM is a Presentation Manager frontend for use with the PsiConv utility
(Linux software ported to OS/2 by Andrei A. Porodko) that lets you convert text
and graphics files from your Psion PDA (series 5, Revo or better) to common PC file
formats.
PsiConv/PM allows you to convert Psion files using a convenient graphical interface.
It doesn't do any conversions itself. It just keeps you away from the command prompt
and sends the proper command string to the PsiConv utility. PsiConv/PM was made
using good old VisproRexx Bronze 2.1. A visual development tool for REXX that was
developped by HockWare way back in 1995.
Both PsiConv and PsiConv/PM are available as freeware. Both utilities can be
downloaded from the 'Psion to OS/2 Connection' website.

Warpstock 2001 Saturday Night Social Event
The Warpstock 2001 Event Team is pleased to announce that the tradition of a
Saturday Night Social Event will continue at Warpstock 2001. This event is your
opportunity to put the work of the day behind you and enjoy a fabulous dinner buffet
with a desert buffet table. Dieters need not attend (just kidding)! And after your
palette is satisfied, you can enjoy a theatrical production over your after-dinner
coffee.
Guests will be picked up at the Warpstock hotel and take a 10-minute bus ride
to the Stage West Theatre in Mississauga. Dinner will be served in the theater,
and afterwards the guests will enjoy a professional theatrical production of Alan
Ayckbourn's hit British comedy, "Things We Do For Love". After the show,
the bus will return everyone back to the hotel, just in time to get enough sleep
before Sunday's morning sessions
In "Things We Do For Love", the cross-section of a Victorian house
has been divided into three flats. The owner, a fastidious and elegant executive
named Barbara, contentedly occupies the ordered, male-free ground floor. The basement
ceiling can be seen, and this is where Gilbert, a boorish postman and handyman,
is painting a nude study of his landlady. Barbara is letting her friend Nikki and
her fianc use the upstairs flat, even though she has taken an instant dislike to
him. Ever life's victim, Nikki is destined to suffer yet again when Barbara succumbs
to an unexpected and violent passion.
The London Guardian says, "Handles a potentially tragic theme with a rueful
comic zest. This is a Private Lives for the nineties." ("Private Lives"
was a British TV series).
Stage West does have certain dress restrictions. They request dress shirts, dress
slacks or skirts. No jeans, shorts, sweatsuits or running shoes are allowed. Dress
slacks and a golf shirt are considered acceptable, but a more stylish outfit is
recommended. After all, you wouldn't want to be confused with a Linux user, would
you?
You can find additional information about Stage West, Mississauga and their productions
by visiting their website at http://www.stagewest.com
You can enjoy all this and the company of fellow OS/2 enthusiasts by reserving
your ticket(s) for the Saturday Night Social Event at only $50 USD each. Tickets
will soon be available for purchase on the Warpstock web site.
A limited number of seats are available, so book early. Final booking of seats
must be made by September 15, 2001, so don't delay!
The 5th annual Warpstock conference will be held October 6-8, 2001, in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada and is produced by Warpstock, Inc., a North Carolina non-profit
corporation. The Warpstock annual conference is a gathering of OS/2 users, developers,
and vendors from around the world for the purpose of education and advocacy. More
information is available at the Warpstock 2001 website, http://www.warpstock.orgor

Warpstock donates $1,000 to Edelweiss House in memory of Dan Casey
On February 20, 2001, Dan Casey, OS/2 advocate and president of Warpstock, passed
away. In his memory, the Warpstock Committee has donated $1,000 to Edelweiss House,
an organization that helps homeless children.
The mission of Edelweiss House is to provide a family home life for abandoned
and homeless children. This goal will be accomplished by construction of homes in
the Indianapolis area, where a married couple will head each home and care for several
of the children. By providing a wholesome family environment, the children will
receive the love, care, and education they deserve.
Dan was co-owner and vice president of sales of Kool Vent, a family-owned business
in the home construction industry. Dan believed strongly in the mission of Edelweiss
House and was looking forward to seeing the construction of the first home.
Dan will always be remembered by family, friends, and OS/2 users around the world.
The Warpstock Committee hopes that this donation will one day help save the life
of a child, and we invite you to also contribute. For more information, please visit
the Edelweiss House web site at

Larsen Commander 1.5.1 released
Today (May 30 2001) Leif-Erik Larsen has released version 1.5.1 of his popular
GUI file manager and command processor, Larsen Commander.
Larsen Commander has a look and feel like the classic Norton Commander, but in
a GUI environment. It combines the best of two very different worlds; - the command
line and the file management panels. Both are available at the same time, and even
in parallel while one or more commands are running in the background!
Larsen Commander is extremely useful espessially for advanced users such as programmers
and system administrators that knows the power and the value of having the command
line possibilities and the file operation panels available at the same time and
in the same shell window. In fact, you can use Larsen Commander almost exactly the
same way as you are using the standard system shell, but with a large number of
additional and powerful features, such as the console monitor being scrollable and
not limited to those "stupid" 25 lines or so of the default OS/2 shell.
But Larsen Commander is not only for the advanced users. Even the novice will
find this piece of software very nice at hand. It makes the standard file operations
a play, such as copying, moving and renaming files and directories. And of course
the command line can be 100% disabled and hidden, for those who never uses it anyway.
Larsen Commander is available at
http://home.online.no/~leifel/lcmd/index.html

Please also be aware of the open Larsen Commander discussion forum at
