NiceTiles is an application that allows you to create 
and place tiles on your desktop which represent applications 
and documents from any mounted disk drive. Clicking on these 
tiles will launch the application and open the document without 
having to traverse the endless folders and directories most of 
us have our stuff filed in. And it is limited only 
by the size of your screen - unlike the Browser.

NiceTiles is a learning execise for me. It is the vehicle I 
chose to learn programming under the BeOS. I say it IS a 
learning experience because I plan to continue adding features 
and refining the code as I continue with other projects. This 
will be my test bed for new ideas and experiments.

NiceTiles is based loosely on a program written by Rick Holzgrafe 
for the Macintosh called The Tilery. However, NiceTiles adds 
many new and in my opinion useful features to those found in 
the Tilery. For example, configuration options such as size and 
color of tiles can be set on a per tile basis and sets of tiles 
can be configured and saved and then referenced from with the 
displayed set.
 
And best of all it runs under BeOS.
